Solar Integrated Vehicle Protection: OEM Facilities

About

OEM and outbound vehicle logistics facilities considering the installation of hail protection can now count solar energy production as an added benefit with the introduction of VPS’ solar-enabled hail protection products. These facilities no longer have to utilize valuable land area to install solar farms. Instead, our VPS Protector Series structures can be outfitted with solar arrays, providing clients with the best of both worlds: industry-leading hail protection and clean energy production.

VPS can:

  • Integrate photovoltaic (PV) equipment and solar arrays into various structural designs
  • Develop customized solutions in partnership with your engineer and/or PV consultant
  • Design structures to accept custom-attachment points, integrated wiring, and more

Description

Our solar panels for manufacturing plants offer a range of benefits:

  • Premier materials: We produce our own fabric and steel at our state-of-the-art facilities, so our structures are always made with quality in mind.
  • Dependable energy: Fossil fuel prices fluctuate frequently, so switching to renewable solar energy can help reduce supply chain risk.
  • Cost savings: Solar panel-equipped hail protection structures can lower utility bills and overhead costs by reducing facilities’ reliance on the power grid.
  • A smooth process: VPS works closely with clients throughout the fabrication process to ensure project success.

As a leader in the asset protection industry, we’re committed to delivering the highest-quality results for our clients. Learn more about the VPS advantage.

We include the following features in all of our asset protection products:

  • Fabric: We use a high-density polyethylene (HDPE) fabric that blocks up to 96% of harmful UV rays. We also use other materials when applications call for them, including PVC or PTFE.
  • Steel: We fabricate our structural steel at our IAS-accredited steel fabrication facility in Dallas, Texas.
  • Accessories: We can incorporate additional features based on project specifications, such as brand logos, signage, surveillance equipment, lighting, and pole pads.

Our D&E team works with every client to create custom shade solutions that meet their facility’s unique needs. Here’s how the process usually works:

  1. Conceptual design: Our team meets with clients to develop a thorough scope and design concept for each project.
  2. Project design and engineering: Our D&E department models structures in 3D CAD according to International Building Code (IBC) requirements, then submits design drawings to clients for review and approval.
  3. Project management: Our accomplished project managers find opportunities to accelerate certain processes to save time, energy, and money.
  4. Fabrication: We produce our fabrics and structural steel at our own plants using cost-effective, industry-leading processes.
  5. Construction: Our construction management team installs completed structures with minimal disruption to operations.

Our hail-rated solar structures for manufacturing protect employees and inventory from extreme weather.

Some potential applications include:

  • Loading docks: Shield designated loading docks for shipping, product assembly, and other steps in the manufacturing process.
  • Truck wells: Protect trucks from hail between shipments by covering their wells with mass coverage solutions.
  • Employee spaces: When employees feel safe at work, they’re more likely to feel satisfied with their jobs. Covering outdoor employee spaces like break areas and parking lots can lead to higher satisfaction.

VPS has more than 30 years of expertise and experience in the asset protection space, so clients can count on us to provide solutions tailored to their facilities’ specifications. Contact us today for more information about our hail-rated solar structures.
