The Mansfield Police Department partnered with VPS to safeguard its fleet of approximately 170 patrol and command vehicles with a custom-engineered protection system.
The project features powder-coated steel frames paired with our Extreme32 membrane, designed for strength, durability, and maximum weather resistance. A Panorama-style structure was selected for wide-span coverage of patrol vehicles, while a custom Panorama Protector was developed specifically for the department’s SWAT and command vehicles. To enhance accessibility and efficiency, covered walkways were integrated between parking rows.
During the project, Mansfield’s Police Chief emphasized that while hail protection is important, the bigger benefit is protecting the electronics inside every vehicle. A fully outfitted patrol car can exceed $100,000 in value, and extreme heat can cause long-term damage to critical systems. By keeping vehicles shaded while not on the road, the department is extending the life of its fleet and reducing costly downtime.
